Our Patriotic Service committee encourages Texas high school students to participate in the national Congressional Seminar Essay Contest. Now in its 43rd year, this essay contest is a major project of
the NSCDA held under the auspices of the Washington Workshops Foundation, a private nonprofit educational program in American government for high school students. Two Texas winners receive full tuition from the NSCDA-TX, including seminar materials, university campus housing, and two meals daily, for a week of citizenship education about the national government, plus fun, new friends, and tours of sites in our nation’s capital. Airfare and money for incidentals, provided by the Texas Dames, are also included.

2023 Topic: “Examine the US Constitution as a whole and explain why you think it does or does not fully protect the Right to Vote.”
Participants must currently be in their sophomore, junior, or senior year of high school during the time of the program. Exceptions will only be made under extraordinary circumstances.
